One week in Turin…

In October 2022, Grenville and I had the pleasure of taking part in the second Art Department Masterclass session to be held in Turin. This session focused on ‘building the worlds: working with post-production’ and the presentations were given by production designer and art director Paul Inglis (‘Children of Men’, ‘Blade Runner 2049’), VFX line producer Luigi Pisciotta (‘Willow’, ‘Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’) and supervising art director Elaine Kusmishko (‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘1917’).

Participants came from around the globe to listen to them describe their work. The intimate nature of these Masterclass sessions meant it was also possible to have the opportunity to discuss the design process with these experts individually.

Gren and I were running the practical assignment, an interactive project for the participants to present their design ideas to one of four teams currently developing film and televsion projects with European funding. It’s a great opportunity for the participants to explore their ability and engage directly with writers, producers and directors alongside the lectures from the experts.
